We are deeply concerned to learn of the conviction and death sentence imposed upon Ms Lesedi Molapisi for drug-related offences by a Bangladesh court on 27 May 2024.

Today’s announcement of a suspended death sentence for Dr Yang Hengjun is another cruel move in a case marred by secrecy and an apparent lack of procedural fairness.

We call on the government of Malaysia to do all that is necessary to ensure the resentencing process for death row prisoners adheres to international standards on the right to a fair trial.
